Chester Beatty Library is a museum within the grounds of Dublin Castle, dedicated to the exploration & understanding of world cultures & religious traditions. The museum features a rich collection of manuscripts, paintings, drawings, documents, rare books and lots more from countries across Africa, the Midde East, Asia and more closer to home. The collections are the result of one man – Sir Alfred Chester Beatty (1875 – 1968) – who amassed this huge collection following visits both personally and through his vast network of advisers and agents. The collection includes papyrus texts from Egypt, beautifully illuminated copies of the Qur’an from the Middle East and European medieval and renaissance manuscripts.
