Dublin City offers a fine list of museums and libraries to choose from in the areas of history, art, literature and nature. With many museums only a short distance from The West County Hotel, there is plenty of choice available during your stay. Below is only a sample of suggestions available to you.

The National Museum of Ireland

The National Museum of Ireland is Ireland’s premier cultural institution and home to the greatest collections of Irish material heritage, culture and natural history of the world. On display, you will find fine examples of silver, ceramics, weapons, coins, glassware, furniture, folklife, clothing, jewelry and medals.

Distance from The West County Hotel: 5.5 km or 15 minute car journey. Take Bus number 25, 26, 66, 66a, 66b, 67 from Chapelizod Bridge to Wolfe Tone Quay, Ellis Street (Stop 1476). The National Museum is approximately a 3 minute walk from this bus stop.

Chester Beatty Library

The Chester Beatty Library is an art museum and library which houses the great collection of manuscripts, miniature paintings, prints, drawings, rare books and some decorative arts assembled by Sir Alfred Chester Beatty (1875-1968).

Distance from The West County Hotel: 6.25km or 25 minute car journey. Take Bus number 25, 26, 66, 66a, 66b, 67 into City Centre. The library is situated beside Dublin Castle, a two minute walk from Dame Street.

National Wax Museum

The National Wax Museum is an exciting interactive visitor centre. The museum is housed over four floors and 13,000 square feet in a historic Foster Place landmark building. The museum takes you on a journey through Irish Cultural Heritage, an enchanting children’s zone of discovery, Ireland’s only dedicated tribute to our top scientific inventors, a green screen video room and all the exceptional life-like wax work characters.

Distance from The West County Hotel: 6.6km or 25 minute car journey. All All City Centre buses will take you close to The National Wax Museum (Bus numbers 25, 26, 66, 66a, 66b, 67). It is just off Dame Street, beside Temple Bar.
